EMAIL CHAT 8/24/11

Hermana Jimenez and Jessie

We are completely fine.... it was wild this whole hurricane thing because everyone was like you two should be in your homes it’s going to rain, but because we didn't hear anything about the storm from the mission we kept working on Sunday... and nothing happened. Then Monday came with the night being super stormy and we received a call from our leaders that we needed to stay in house until we received further info. It didn't rain hard at all... very soft. So then at 3 we received the call to go and it rained, but seemed more intense than when we were inside. Then yesterday we didn't receive any instructions to stay inside so we worked and the streets were completely flooded like rivers and the rain was super hard wind was blowing and we were working. It always seems that way... when it's intense is when we are out and when its calm we are stuck inside. But all is well no problems.
We had power and water considering yesterday.... we were blessed over here in Ponce..... and it’s been great with Hermana Jimenez...... she is truly an excellent missionary, she has already invited 4 people to be baptized, we have a baptismal date and she is a great teacher. She's obedient and we are clones basically. We like the same kind of things she's tiny and she's sweet. She likes me too, I think. LOL.  She always tells me that she's blessed I'm her trainer and that I'm humble and teaching with love..... it was funny cuz she was telling me that President told her I was humble and a perfectionist,  which is funny because I think she's learning fast that I'm not a perfectionist. LOL.

We get along well and she's already taught me the dance from her city..... the baptism is Juanita and Zuleka in Sept. 10.... we aren't sure if they will make that date, but that is our goal. They are great investigators we just need them to realize how to pray on their own, sincerely and why it's necessary to only have the one church..... we're working with them. Zuleka is my age and she has a cute baby "Jay" and Juanita is her aunt. (speaking of Hma. Jimenez…..) We are communicating fine... there are definitely moments when she looks at me weird and I try to rearrange my phrases because I know she doesn't understand. LOL.... it's funny because I can understand the people on the phone better than her sometimes heheheh but yeah she's got serious missionary fire.
Hermana Garcia colored my hair.   (I’d asked Jessie about her blonde hair, since she had it dyed back to her natural very dark brown before she left for her mission.)

Well it seems like I gotta go... the library was closed and we are at a member's home and it’s time for Hermana Jimenez.
Found the cds (missing photo CD’s)..... will send them and no the nails didn't last because the job was bad at the place I went.

Love you a ton...... mucho and miss you and Kyle and Cody so much always in my prayers..... xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxxoxoxox
Hey I talked to president and the nurse and I need to get the tests done.... she looked at my neck and says its swollen so I could have thyroids..... I don't know how payments work to get the tests done,,,, if I will use the mission card or can I use the other for the doctor?

Adios love ya tons.........!!!!!!!!

EMAIL 8/17/11

... hey before we talk president talked to me about there is a video on YouTube of my dancing....I don't know who put it on... but you need to take it off the internet for no one cuz I kind of got in trouble and president can get in bigger trouble please and thank you.

I haven’t been able to locate the video on YouTube, so if you’re the one who posted it or you know where it is, could you please delete it off YouTube and Facebook ASAP?   Jessie is getting in trouble and I don’t want it to be a problem for others either.    Thank you!!!!

Yeah I told president that it's not something you would do.... and he was like yeah but see if maybe someone can take it off.... yikes.... we found out through a sister who recognized me and saw it. It was on YouTube and Facebook.
Okay so I am officially a trainer for Hermana Jimenez of Mexico... we seem to have a lot in common and she seems like she's got that fire in her bones. She is a recently rescued menos activo, a professional folklore dancer, and is short. LOL.

(About Hermana Garcia………)  No she left me and it was super sad and I already miss her.... she is totally one of my best friends...... she is going to tour a little bit... work in St. Croix and some of the areas she worked in before. I had to say bye to her..... but I'm definitely going to try to visit her in the DR..... have you found out anything about EFY there?   (Apparently there is supposed to be an EFY session held in the Dominican Republic next summer and Jessie and Hma. Garcia want to go and be counselors for it.)
The other missionary is a 2 year convert (Hermana Jiminez).  The other sister.... well we've started out with long days in meeting... I just came here to Ponce.. and it was friends that helped her get reactivated. We are planning to work with youth more and menos activos because that is how she became re-activated was through institute and the youth.....

I can already tell that she'll make a difference here in Ponce.... she'll be my comp(anion) for 12 weeks... that is the length of the training program.
(pictures on CD’s she was telling me she had……) Some are and others are pictures Hermana Curl gave me that I want too..... so we'll have to see... Hermana Garcia said she would call me every night before she goes.... we'll see if she does that. LOL..... but yeah sad story (Jes thought she’d have 3 more weeks with Hma. Garcia).... and grandma just holidays, and dad in June (about mail)... and I know I am super bad with writing too so I probably deserve it. LOL....Lou isn't writing either and oh before I forget can you put Alijandrina in the prayer roll (I don't know her last name. LOL)

Sorry I've switched to about 4 comp(uter)s in the last 5 min(ute)s we are having problems now with the comp(uter)s..... but President was having a mission tour with the Area Counselor of the 70 and he recently got back and really didn't have time for transfers. Yesterday she came to PR from the DR (Hermana Jiminez transferred into the PR mission from the Dominican Republic MTC).
I am nervous about the training... I just want to make sure it's a good experience for her and also everyone loved Hermana Garcia so I hope they feel the same about me. LOL.... we'll see and mas espanol again.

(I was saying that her Spanish must be pretty good by now……….) Yeah but I just asked Hermana Jimenez today if she can understand me and she was like a little... you have no idea how much it hurts when they can't understand... it gets super distressing and frustrating.... I'm tryin.....I don't have really anything to share to be honest with ya. I already shared it I think..... maybe I can share a funny story with you...... so Hermana Garcia and I were in an elevator super hot one... and a family enters at the same time as us. We tried making conversation with them and the little girl was tempted to push the buttons. Then she started pushing. She didn't push all of them, but she did push a few. So we were heading to our level and all of a sudden (a little after the girl left) we heard a phone ringing...and we were like what is that... is it the emergency phone calling? ... did the little girl push the emergency button? So it kept ringing and then the door opened and we started hearing a phone : ello ello... quien es? We were like no nadie... a girl pushed the buttons and she must have pressed the emergency button.... and as the door opened we saw a thing that looked like a speaker so we were talking to it. Then we left the elevator and the voice was still going...heheh then we realized it was the phone in Hermana Garcia's bag and it called by itself in speaker to our district leader.  The second time it has called on its own... so funny.....
Yeah well president threw some more difficult curve balls that were almost impossible before and now I have that with trying to be an example to her, so it will be interesting.

Okay gotta go but LOVE YOU SO STINKIN MUCH!!!! AND MISS U!!!!!!!!! TELL KYLE THE SAME AND THE POOPY DOG

Email chat 8/10/11

Jessie’s companion, Hermana Garcia, will be done with her mission soon.   Since transfers are next week I’d assumed she’d be leaving then, but Jessie tells me her release date is not until August 27th.   That’s weird because it was our understanding that missionaries were always released when transfers cycled.   Here’s what Jes said about it……

yeah she leaves in some random time, so we might have a threesome.... who knows.... (referring to 3 in the companionship)

ahhhh I love your letters.... I was thirsting for family. LOL....
Jessie had the opportunity to attend a meeting presided over by Elder Wilford W. Andersen of the Second Quorum of the Seventy….

It was good.... very wet to enter and dangerous to drive. The storm didn't even hit the day they said it would and when it hit it was just rainy.... nothing different. Just driving in hard rain for an hour was scary tho.   (Tropical Storm Emily swept by PR.)   We had President (Alvarado) and his wife talk and then Elder Andersen and his wife. It was good and Elder Andersen did a question answer thing. I wanted to ask a question but didn't have my chance. We were all freezing inside the building too... don't know why no one turned off the AC. We all were purple, even the dark Latins. LOL.... After President selected a few missionaries in our Ponce zone and the Mayaguez zone to talk with Elder Andersen and Hermana Garcia and I were chosen. Also two elders came back on their missions after going back home early... one of them is Elder Perez and now he is in my district. He was in my district in DR.

About the smaller meeting with Elder Andersen and about Elder Perez………
It was normal and super short, not as personal as I hoped and he was the same who visited Adjuntas for church... so it wasn't my first time (meeting him),  LOL, and I don't know why Elder Perez left, I don't think it was cuz he was sick... but yeah it's cool to have him again......

Hey so I've been craving mint something...especially ice cream and I haven't seen anything here with mint..... I don't know why but it's super hard to find mint here. Anyways I asked the family that bought me ice cream where I could find mint and they were like oh it’s here. So we were at a fireside with (Elder) Andersen before our mission conference and this family comes up and are like we have something for you... come to our house.... we found your mint ice cream. So we went and it's been divine... they gave me the tub and then said that when I'm done tell them and they'll supply me refills..... they won't tell me where they found it. LOL. I love those sisters. It's Lizette and her daughter Sarah in Villa de Carmen.
yeah it was so exciting and then they gave us dove chocolate too, seriously they are adorable, there are a few sisters that are totally family here in Ponce to us.

1. We had a baptism in the ward.... yeah our menos activo RM had her sons serve mini missions and then her sons received their correct priesthood and then her older son baptized her son who is almost 9 years old. They have been waiting for him to be baptized because the son didn't have the correct priesthood. The old bishop held it back from him.... the new bishop is changing lives... it's been a huge change and really the service was beautiful! Lohary also bore her testimony and it was just beautiful to see this family progressing and she said they weren't going to.  Hehehehe.
2. The Fruit man's name is Ector.

3. No one I mean no one answered their doors this week.... so it was a very long week.

4. I'm having breakdowns....

5. I received a letter from a family in Utuado that was nice and surprising.
6. Found out that EFY (Especially For Youth) is in the DR (Dominican Republic) next year and I so wanna be a counselor.  Can you check online?  Maybe Hermana Garcia and I can both do it... I so want to visit her after!!!

7. okay I have 3 CD’s I will be sending you (of pictures). One of them I need back; the one that will say "good Times in Ponce Comoletti". LOL.....
8. hmmmm not sure what else

It’s from an art gallery thing in the library and we were like it's us!
LOVE YOU SO MUCH !!!!!! MISS YOU TERRIBLY AND CAN"T WAIT TO SEE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!

EMAIL 8/1/11

(I was driving Kyle to Rexburg, Idaho for EFY this day and didn’t get a chance to chat with Jessie.   Her normal PDays are Wednesdays, but this time it was on a Monday.)

Well it kind of seems like you’re not on today, which is sad cuz I figured hey she'll be at work.... but maybe you’re having a meeting or somewhere else. Anyways things have been pretty interesting this week, not a ton, but a few cool things. Actually one non cool thing is I'm going to go to the doctor to get a test to see if I have diabetes or a thyroid problem.... someone told me that I seem to have the signs of a thyroid problem and if that's the case for sure I'll take that over diabetes. We'll see. I was supposed to go to the doctor on Wednesday, but that is when we have our conference and I think Hermana Alvarado forgot that. So not sure when it will happen, but I want to do it just to be safe.  For example my moods have been way off (very depressed- happy) and still tired, my weight is on and off and other things. So we'll see

So here is a little list of this week:

1. President was in the area and we invited to come to something that we knew he would like, and he was going to go but couldn't. But as we invited him he was like hey Hermana Comoletti how is your Spanish and I was like ummm well... and then he was like are you speaking only Spanish and I was like no..... and then he said he wanted us to meet up with him and teach him and Hermana Alvarado the commandments explained in Preach My Gospel. We had to teach within 40 minutes 13 commandments and they knew nothing. And I was the missionary to lead the discussion. I was like shoot we shouldn't have called him and invited him. Anyways long story short he ended up calling and saying that I wasn’t going to have to do it for now. LOL.  So I don't know if that means not anymore or in another time. We'll see.  I was relieved when he cancelled, truly prayers are answered   And he also said that it was a test, he was going to learn from me heheh I was thinking yeah right.... it's a test. LOL.

2. The reason that we invited President to church on Sunday is because there is a menos activa who is a returned missionary. She has not attended church for 4-5 years, but her kids go. President went to seminary with this woman and knows her well. He kept saying make her go to church. So here is the thing.... The ward just recently ordained a new bishop. The old one was moving, and word has it many people become inactive with him. She being one of them. We heard things and I don't know what is true and what isn't, but he was the reason she didn't go. One example is she has a younger son (6 kids) and he is the age to be baptized. She wanted her older son to baptize him, but the bishop wouldn't give him the ranking according to his age (for stupid reason, not fair). So not only were the 3 older sons not receiving the appropriate priesthood, but the other son wasn't getting baptized. One day she asked us if we could find out if her sons could serve mini missions before school started. Hermana Garcia called President and he immediately said yes. It became a week process to get everything worked out, but with this new bishop, the boys ended up receiving their priesthood and the opportunity to be set apart for their mini missions. Two days before their ordination, we visited this Hermana. (At first she was very, very, very hard to handle and I wanted to give up on her. I'm so grateful for Hermana Garcia and the perseverance of all because she is a great person and just needed this little bit of help from everyone.) She explained to us the situation that her sons were going to be ordained, and seriously we were so so happy. And then we were like so you’re going to church then and she was like for sacrament and we were double happy. Long story short this bishop did his part and has been changing the ward. We didn't think she would come to sacrament - left after the setting apart in the morning.... and she was late for the meeting. We said little prayers in our hearts and there she walked in and sat in church. I was thrilled and so happy for her. I kept thinking of the scripture in D & C 18 (Doctrine and Covenants) how every soul is great in the sight of God and what great joy to see one that Alma saved.

3. This same woman during the time we were visiting and finding out about her sons, she was like I was a missionary and when I was serving I always loved having baptisms and anyone counts. So she was like you sisters can have my son’s baptism count. So on Sunday we found out that her eight year old son, almost 9, will be baptized this Sunday at 6 pm from his older brother. Truly many little miracles happened this Sunday!!!!!

4. Many menos activos came this Sunday to church.

5. We had an interesting noche de hogar that ended up as a family religious feud, killed the spirit.

6. There are mini sister missionaries serving now... more hermanas yeah.

……………………………………….

8. I don't get to chat with you today it looks like it :s.

9. Hermana Evit... love her, sister from the ward, bought us things from Avon. She's a representative for them and she bought us perfume and earrings and body gel... it felt like Christmas.... she's been taking care of us.

10. Druggy man came to church again, but the hermanos handled it.

Well this is some of the things that have happened this week and hope that all is awesome for you guys.... REALLY TRULY MISS YOU ALL AND LOVE YOU.... so ready to be home now. LOL.
